“Spring Rain at Dusk: Telling the Story of Chinese Medicine”is a lecture by Dr. Song Ping from the International Cooperation Department of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is a lecture on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which refers to medical science based on traditional medicine created by the Han people in China. It is a discipline that studies human physiology, pathology, and diagnosis of diseases and prevention. TCM emerged in primitive society, then formed its basic medical theory during the Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC-475 BC) and Warring States Period (475 BC-221 BC). The dynasties after this period have summarized and further developed the theory. In addition, it has a far-reaching influence on the countries of the cultural circle with Chinese character, such as Japanese medicine, Korean medicine and Vietnamese medicine are all developed on the basis of Chinese medicine. TCM carries the experience and theoretical knowledge of the daily life of the ancient Chinese people in the process of their fight against diseases. It is a medical theory system that has been gradually formed and developed through long-term medical practice and has thus been deeply influenced by classical Chinese materialism and dialectics. On October 1, 2018, the World Health Organization included TCM for the first time in its globally influential medical compendium.
