Butterfly Girls Band is a national troupe composed of young and beautiful female artists in Zhejiang Song & Dance Theatre. Its specialty is playing local music of Zhejiang province and Jiangnan Sizhu, a genre of traditional Chinese instrumental music that thrives in south China. Jiangnan Sizhu is a type of folk music that is popular in Zhejiang and combines string and woodwind musical instruments. Jiangnan Sizhu has a long history, which had already made it rather popular in Hangzhou, a major city in Zhejiang Province, during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618–907) of China. It has been listed as an intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China.
