On April 9, 2026, the China Cultural Center in Copenhagen brought the iconic Lanting·Yaji— a symbol of traditional Chinese literati culture — to local Copenhagen communities.
Co-hosted with the Danish-Chinese Cultural and Tourism Exchange Association and the Danish Seniors Association, nearly 80 Danish seniors joined for the immersive cultural experiences. Participants tried their hand at Chinese brush calligraphy, listened to the soothing sounds of the guqin, learned gentle tai chi movements, and enjoyed making and tasting traditional Chinese dumplings.
In response to the growing interest in wellness travel among Danish seniors, we also featured a special presentation on Hainan Island’s tropical wellness tourism resources. We highlighted the 30-day visa-free policy for Danish citizens, senior-friendly travel services, and Hainan’s unique offerings as a premier destination for relaxation and cultural exploration.
The Danish Seniors Association, founded in 1986, is Denmark’s most influential senior organization with 970,000 members — representing approximately 70% of Danes aged 60 and above. Supporting healthy seniors to travel abroad and experience diverse cultures is a key focus of their 2026 service plan.
This event was designed to meet exactly that need, using cultural experience as a gateway to showcase China’s warmth and unique tourism resources. Many participants expressed their newfound interest in Chinese culture and shared plans to visit China with their families in the near future.
Stay tuned for more upcoming cultural events tailored for different groups in Copenhagen!
