As China marks the 16th China Tourism Day on May 19, the country’s travel industry is rolling out an internationally focused campaign that blends large-scale domestic subsidies with tailored services for inbound visitors.

Under the theme “Enjoy Quality Travel, Explore Scenic Land,” this year’s program introduces more than 9,000 special tourism offers and nearly 1 billion yuan (approximately $146 million) in travel subsidies and consumer incentives, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

A major highlight of this year’s initiative is its stronger focus on inbound tourism, reflecting China’s ongoing efforts to create a more convenient, traveler-friendly experience for overseas visitors.

Tourist destinations across the country are also upgrading services to better serve global visitors.

The China Tourist Attractions Association is encouraging scenic attractions nationwide to improve multilingual signage and guide services, enhance international payment compatibility, and provide more convenient foreign currency exchange services.

With attractive travel incentives, expanded international services, and smoother travel experiences, China Tourism Day 2026 reflects China’s efforts to make traveling in the country more convenient, accessible, and enjoyable for visitors from around the world.
