When Danish Spring Meets Chinese Melodies: The Happy Chinese New Year · China-Denmark Singers Grand Prix Held in Copenhagen

How did the crisp air of early Danish spring find its perfect soundtrack? On 14 March, the China Cultural Center in Copenhagen was transformed into a dazzling stage for the Happy Chinese New Year · China-Denmark Singers Grand Prix.

This event was co-hosted by the China Cultural Center in Copenhagen and the Dansk-Kinesisk Integrations Forum in a delightful afternoon when music lovers and tastemakers from both countries gathered to connect hearts across cultures. 18 talented vocalists took the mic in front of the guests, proving that music is the ultimate universal language.
The absolute scene-stealers of the afternoon? Eight-year-old Kamilla melted hearts with her pure rendition of Girl by the Bridge, and 70-year-old Zhang Li brought the house down with Heavenly Road. Feride exhibited Chinese elegance with a cello-backed Jasmine Flower, and Nicolai Lundsbjerg gave the audiences an enthusiastic Endless Love for You.

Meanwhile, a breathtaking visual and auditory feast took place during the intermission: the Nordic breeze swept through as Tune, Mads, and Chen Ruijin offered a stunning interpretation of the Danish lullaby Jeg Ved En Laerkerede. Then, we were transported to the landscapes of Guangxi with a soul-stirring chorus of Mountain Songs are Like the Spring River led by Wu Hong. The ultimate showstopper was the solo Hanfu dance, Upon the Tambourine, with ethereal Eastern elegance.

After two hours of talented performances, the crown finally went to Mr. Pan Zihan, whose bel canto rendition of “I Love You, China” won the judges and audience’s hearts.

‘It’s an absolute honor,’ said the newly crowned champion, ‘Sharing this stage with so many passionate Chinese and Danish friends and celebrating the Chinese New Year together will be my favourite moment of this spring.”
After the show, guests were invited to visit the ‘Year of the Horse’ Zodiac Art Exhibition in the Center’s gallery space.
