Shanghai Woolen Needlepoint Tapestry Exhibition

Invited by China Cultural Center in Copenhagen,  a group of delegation from Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts will come, and bring a lot of Woolen needlepoint tapestry works to Denmark.  Shanghai Woolen Needlepoint Tapestry Exhibition will be held in Københavns Roklub.

Shanghai Woolen Needlepoint Tapestry belongs to China’s national intangible cultural heritage. It developed from traditional embroidery and innovated. The integration of Eastern crafts and Western arts gives it a unique charm.

Woolen needlepoint tapestry originated from Europe and was introduced in China at the ending of the 19 century; at the beginning of 20  century it reached Shanghai. Later, starting in the 1940s, the woolen needlepoint tapestry industry in Shanghai was boosted. Western art was represented using various needle skills, which marked the emergence of the Chinese family crafts on the global stage.

The exhibits, all crafted by modern embroidery artists from Shanghai, deliver the wonderful charm of woolen needlepoint tapestry.
