Chinese medical culture is extensive and profound. Acupoint massage is an important part of it, easy to practice and master, and is conducive to health care. During the 2021 China Tourism and Culture Weeks, Network of International Culturalink Entities specially launched a series of videos of Chinese Medical Culture Microclass, introduced the basic summary of Chinese medical culture with "Overview", and five "acupoint skills" to help solve common physical problems in people's work and life, including practical acupoint knowledge and massage teaching on improving sleep, shoulder and neck soreness, fatigue relief, soothing muscles after exercise and eye health care. The short video teaching method is simple, intuitive and effective to learn the Chinese medical culture and practical massage skills.

Overview

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) takes Yin-Yang (a concept of dualism in Ancient Chinese philosophy) and Five Elements (water, fire, wood, metal and soil) as its theoretical basis.According to the TCM theory, the human body is a unity of qi (the body’s vital life force or energy), form and spirit.TCM doctors diagnose patients through inspection, auscultation & olfaction, inquiry, and palpation.By this means, they explore the causes of an illness, analyze specific symptoms, and identify the illness.TCM has many treatment approaches, including medication, acupuncture and moxibustion, tuina (massage), cupping, and dietotherapy.All these methods are aimed to make the human body achieve the balance of yin and yang.

Episode 1: Improving Sleep

Nowadays many people suffer from insomnia due to chronic stress at work or heavy workload. Applying the massage techniques showed in the four lessons of this lecture can improve sleep quality.

Episode 2: Protecting Shoulder and Neck

Sedentary desk jobs often cause shoulder and neck fatigue, waist soreness and backache, muscle strain and other health problems. Applying the techniques showed in the three lessons of this lecture can promote blood circulation, alleviate shoulder and neck soreness and help relieve fatigue.
