Dragon Boat Festival falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month and is one of the most cherished traditional festivals in Chinese culture—and the first Chinese festival ever inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. For thousands of years, dragon boat racing has remained one of its most vibrant traditions.

Copenhagen Dragon Boat Festival, the largest dragon boat event in Northern Europe, returns to the Copenhagen waterfront, bringing together around 10,000 participants to celebrate speed, rhythm, and heritage on the water.

This year, we’ll be at Islands Brygge on May 30–31, 2026. More than a race, it’s a celebration of culture and community—where paddles hit the water, drums set the pace, and the spirit of friendship travels far beyond the finish line.

The team representing the China Cultural Center in Copenhagen is now recruiting paddlers for the 9th Copenhagen Dragon Boat Festival!

We welcome more sports lovers and team players to join us — no previous dragon boat experience required. Whether you are a seasoned paddler or trying dragon boating for the first time, this is your chance to experience the excitement of teamwork and the spirit of the Dragon Boat Festival.

This summer, let’s gather by the Copenhagen waterfront, follow the beat of the drums, paddle together, and enjoy the energy, passion, and fun of dragon boat racing!
