Recently, the Chinese Cultural Center in Copenhagen organized a children’s reading promotion event at its library, inviting local families to experience the joy of reading in Chinese in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The event mainly featured free reading and parent-child reading time. With their parents by their side, children explored picture books and storybooks and gradually became immersed in reading. The atmosphere throughout the event was warm and focused.

A special book display area was also set up to showcase a selection of newly arrived Chinese children’s books. The display included traditional Chinese stories, original Chinese children’s literature, bilingual picture books, and popular science books. Rich in content and diverse in format, these books not only foster cultural awareness but also support language learning and cognitive development, attracting many children to stop and read.
During the event, staff members introduced the library’s Chinese-language collection to participating families and recommended books suitable for young readers. They also explained how to use the library’s audio reading resources, which can help children better understand Chinese through a combination of listening and reading.

At the end of the event, several families applied for library cards on site and took their favorite books home to continue reading.
Using reading as a bridge, the activity combined book displays with on-site guidance to provide local children with opportunities to explore Chinese-language books. Through hands-on reading, children were able to gain a better understanding of Chinese-language content and, in a natural way, deepen their awareness of Chinese culture.
