As a radiant crystallization of Chinese civilization’s millennial heritage, the art of ink-and-wash finds its essence in BIMO — the expressive use of brush and ink. Beginning on November 5, 2025, China Cultural Center in Copenhagen, in collaboration with the School of Art Administration and Education (SAE, China Academy of Art), will launch Denmark’s first international cultural exchange project: BIMO: A World. Through four key components—Exhibition, Forum, Workshop, and Publication—the project aims to amplify the living voice of “Chinese brush and ink” across the Nordic regions while pioneering innovative modes of cultural presentation and scholarly exchange.

Event Highlights:
Roundtable Forum (15:00-17:00)
Chaired by Professor Kong Lingwei (CAA), this forum convenes leading scholars, curators, and cultural researchers from China and the West to explore Bimo’s philosophical and cross-cultural dimensions.
Opening Ceremony ( 17:30 – 18:30 )

Ink Art Exhibition
The exhibition will showcase representative works by four contemporary Chinese ink artists—Huang Jun, Lin Haizhong, Chen Lei, and Li Tong. All of them are alumni of the China Academy of Art’s Chinese Painting program, they inherit the academy’s traditions of brush-and-ink techniques while responding to contemporary spirit through individual exploration. Combining textual interpretation with on-site appreciation, the exhibition invites audiences into the spiritual world of Chinese ink art.

Twin academic Publications
To consolidate and extend the outcomes of this exchange, the project will release a twin academic publication:
Primary Volume – Focused on the creative practices of the four artists and related academic studies, presenting the multiple dimensions of “brush and ink” in a contemporary context.
Forum Supplement – Recording and distilling cross-cultural dialogues from the round table forum, offering locally grounded academic reflections.
The publications will be released at the event and serve as an important reference for China – Denmark cultural exchange.
